San Diego, a city where the only thing more abundant than sandy beaches and palm trees is sunshine. San Diego Eco Rentals, a provider of environmentally-friendly high-end vacation rentals in San Diego’s most vibrant neighborhoods, hired Sullivan Solar Power to take their newest rental property to the next level of eco-consciousness.

Their Spanish-style four-bedroom, two bath duplex in the University Heights area now boasts a 4.4kW solar system using 18 Kyocera 245W modules and a Sunny Boy 240-US micro inverter system. A large evergreen tree that provides vital privacy from the duplex’s neighbors casts partial shading on select modules, making module-level MPP tracking the optimal solution.

“The owner is passionate about reducing his and his renters’ carbon footprint. Because this is an investment property, he was also very concerned with equipment reliability. Choosing PV components manufactured by companies with long business histories, strong financials and respected service reputations was an important consideration for him.” – Sean Mazelli, Sullivan Solar Power

A full review of the installation was covered in the June/July 2014 issue of Solar Pro with a detailed overview and complete system details. Check it out and let us know what you think!
