Solar Monitoring with Sunny Portal Pro: How Analyse Pro works

The monitoring tool Sunny Portal Professional Package was originally intended for business customers who simultaneously service several PV systems. However, residential PV system users, may also find many of the functions valuable. After repeated inquiries from residential customers and an extensive phase of testing, SMA has now decided to also make the tool available to private system operators. In this blog post, I will go through the primary function in professional PV monitoring – the “Analyse Pro” function.

Shop ButtonWith a free demo package, SMA offers the option of testing the Professional Package on your own PV system for four weeks. After the trial period has expired, you can purchase the annual subscription for just 30 euros.

Here, I would like to give you a glimpse of the Analyse Pro’s functional range. The ’Energy and Power’ and ’Specific Comparison’ functions are already known from the Sunny Portal’s standard analysis.

Detailed analysis within 5 minutes

Whereas the standard analysis intervals are 15 minutes, Analyse Pro enables detailed analysis within only 5 minutes.

Customized Comparison Function With Detailed Analysis

Power, voltage, electrical current strength, frequency, insulation resistance, battery state of charge and much more can be queried here — a differentiation is made between individual inverters and battery inverters. This allows you to compare the results.

In addition, you can activate a reference day which is displayed as background in the graphic. The status of the communication and the status of the inverters can be reported in the graphic.

Conclusion

Test the Professional Package now. I would say the “Analyse Pro” function, in particular, is effective and above all is essentially easier to operate compared with the Webbox. With this new tool, even technically inexperienced PV system operators can now monitor and control their systems seamlessly.

Before going live, Matthias was given access to SUNNY Portal Pro to test it for one year free of charge. Thanks Matthias, for this useful blog post.

      Hi Nabeel,
I suppose that the PV systems registered in the SMA Sunny Portal are Webconnect or Home Manager systems. In these systems it is unfortunately not possible to create additional visualizations (pages) in the portal. Therefore we cannot offer a solution here. I am really sorry. Kind regards, Annika

While the new version gives easy to access date it has limited configuration and the inability to have user defined trends and trend points is a significant step back from the earlier version. Disappointing outcome really…..

It is a pity that you pay a premium price for a inverter and must pay extra for detailed monitoring where other manufacturers offer detailed monitoring for free. Had I known this in advance I may have decided on a different brand inverter.

The new Pro is quite a nice useful tool. Hopefully it will be expanded upon to also include Energy usage as well as some stats functions such as max, min and total energy over a specified period. PV output data is also incorrectly timed by 5 minutes ( lag ) when compared to Sunny Explorer data for some reason
