Niestetal in June. Attendees from all over the world have gathered at the SMA Solar Academy for a whole week of trainings on the SMA Fuel Save Solution. Despite it being summer in Germany, the sunshine is not even close to that of the countries, where the seminar participants will later install their PV plants. They have come to the Solar Academy, because they want to reduce the fuel consumption of energy systems in the Sunbelt region of the earth, powered by Diesel gensets.

In the coming week, they will learn about Industrial Hybrid Energy Systems, how to design and dimension them and make them even more effective by integrating battery storage systems. The highlight of the week is probably the last day, where the attendees will learn how to commission the SMA Fuel Save Controller by themselves.

“The hands-on character helps to visualize the training contents”

“The participation in the FSC-trainings is a great help for the planning and implementation of our current projects – therefore we always attend the newest trainings to be up-to-date”, says training attendee Saad Kouhry from Beirut, Lebanon. Saad was especially taken with the commissioning part of the training: “The hands-on character helps to visualize the training contents.” Christian Höhle, project manager at SMA, is equally enthusiastic: “Being in charge of the product design of the Fuel Save Controller, it is great to see that the Solar Academy offers expert knowledge on the product for our customers. We are looking forward to many more Fuel Save Solutions installed all over the world autonomously by the training attendees.”

5 days training from experts to experts

The whole training week at the Solar Academy consisted of five days. It included three different training parts in English which build on each other. The seminar “Designing of Industrial Hybrid Energy Systems with the SMA Fuel Save Controller 2.0 M” was the starting point for the international attendees. Afterwards they participated in the training “Sunny Central Storage Inverters – large-scale battery inverters for power applications”. Finally, the seminar “Commissioning of Industrial Hybrid Energy Systems with the Fuel Save Controller” brought the week in Niestetal to a successful conclusion.
