The small idea to bring joy to area children turned into a big donation recently, as the SMA team<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6632\" style=\"width: 188px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sma-sunny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_6459.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6632\" class=\"wp-image-6632 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.sma-sunny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_6459.jpg\" alt=\"Sunny Bear joins a new family at UC Davis Children's Hospital.\" width=\"178\" height=\"267\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 178px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 178\/267;\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6632\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunny Bear joins a new family at UC Davis Children&#8217;s Hospital.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>donated nearly 2,000 teddy bears to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu\/children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UC Davis Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Sunny Bears were handed out to the excited patients on hand the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu\/publish\/news\/children\/8994\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">day of the donation<\/a>, each taking a turn to pick out a bear and say thanks to one of the SMA team members on hand. Children and parents came and went from the playroom during the morning visit to get their new teddy bears and, hopefully, feel a little joy to help them on the way to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored that community partners, like SMA America, want to reach out and help our children,\u201d said Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department.\u00a0\u201cPatients here have been through a lot and simple acts of kindness such as this go a long way toward their recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The nearly 2,000 bears will be enough to provide one for each child currently staying at the hospital and future guests who need extra comfort during their stay.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6633\" style=\"width: 272px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sma-sunny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_6383.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6633\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6633 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.sma-sunny.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/IMG_6383.jpg\" alt=\"Sunny Bears being unloaded and readied for delivery. \" width=\"262\" height=\"174\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 262px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 262\/174;\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6633\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunny Bears being unloaded and readied for delivery.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re committed to supporting the Sacramento area and donating teddy bears to these patients, who are sons and daughters of our neighbors.
