New generation Sunny Boy inverters provide customers with great flexibility due to their integrated WLAN and Webconnect interfaces. This allows direct access to the user interface of the inverter for smooth commissioning and configuration. It also provides an option for local monitoring via the inverter\u2019s user interface or online monitoring via Sunny Portal and Sunny Places. However in some instances a customer or installer may prefer to turn off the WLAN function in the inverter (e.g. privacy, not used, etc.). The step by step procedure to switch off and switch on the WLAN in the inverter is described below.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PREPARATION CHECKLIST:<\/h2>\n

Bring your smartphone, tablet or laptop with Ethernet patch cable along to the site<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"wifi1\"<\/a>Whether the installation site is remote, or if this is the first time commissioning this type of inverter, or it is known the inverter\u2019s WiFi hotspot has been deactivated, it is recommended that you bring a computer with an Ethernet port and an Ethernet patch cable, as it will make the configuration process easier in case you experience any difficulty. Otherwise, any smartphone or tablet with WiFi capability should be sufficient.<\/p>\n

The WLAN function is activated as standard at the time of manufacturing. To deactivate this function, it is necessary to access the web user interface of the inverter. First, make sure the inverter is commissioned. You will then need to access the inverter user interface using either the following two methods:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a) Connecting via WLAN<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will need to have a computer, a tablet or a smartphone with Wi-Fi capability.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

b) Connecting via Ethernet<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will need a computer with an Ethernet interface.<\/p>\n

Below is the detailed description of how to access the inverter user interface.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a) Connecting via WLAN<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Search for Wi-Fi networks in your device. You will see the inverter network as SMA[serial number]. Connect to this network and enter the password. The Wi-Fi password for the first ten hours of operation is SMA12345. After this, use the WPA2-PSK password of that particular inverter which you will find on the inverter type label on the right hand side of the unit. Once you have successfully connected to this network, open an internet browser and enter the IP address in the address bar according to information below and press Enter.<\/p>\n

This will take you to the login page of the inverter user interface. Log in as an Installer. If this is the first time you are logging in, you will be asked to create a password. Otherwise use the password set by the installer at the time of commissioning.<\/p>\n

b) Connecting via Ethernet<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Connect the inverter directly to a computer via an Ethernet patch cable. See below for the Ethernet connection point on the inverter.<\/p>\n

Open an internet browser and enter the IP address in the address bar according to information below\u00a0and press Enter.<\/p>\n

This will take you to the login page of the inverter user interface. Log in as an Installer. If this is the first time you are logging in, you will be asked to create a password. Otherwise use the password set by the installer at the time of commissioning.<\/p>\n

Switching the WLAN interface off<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Once logged in to the inverter user interface, you can switch off the WLAN function. However, be mindful that by doing so, future access to the inverter user interface will be possible only via an Ethernet connection. This means if you need to re-activate the WLAN function you must connect the inverter directly to a computer or a router via Ethernet.<\/p>\n

Procedure:<\/p>\n

1. On the menu, click on \u201cDevice Parameters\u201d and then click on \u201cEditing Parameters\u201d.<\/p>\n

2. Click on \u201cSystem Communication\u201d, then select \u201cWLAN\u201d.<\/p>\n

3. To deactivate the WLAN direct connection, select \u201cSoft-access-point is turned on\u201d and set this parameter to \u201cNo\u201d.<\/p>\n

      New Generation Sunny Boy inverters are equipped with a WLAN interface as standard. While this function facilitates easy system configuration and monitoring using WiFi, customers sometimes prefer to deactivate the WLAN function. The WLAN function can be easily deactivated by accessing the inverter user interface. However, once the WLAN interface is deactivated, it will only be possible to re-activate the WLAN by connecting the inverter directly to a computer or a router via Ethernet.<\/p>\n
