We\u2019d like to introduce Ben, our new Social Media Manager \u2013 with a first \u201cdigital handshake\u201d. Ben is supporting our Social Media team since the beginning of november. To get to know him better, we\u2019ve asked Ben some questions for you.<\/strong>

How old are you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s starting great \u2013 isn\u2019t it? \ud83d\ude09 I\u2019m sweet 30.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Where do you come from?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, I grew up in a small town in North<\/a>\u00a0Rhine-Westphalia<\/a>, Germany. But since nearly nobody might know Wettringen \u2013 with it\u2019s unbelievable 8,000 inhabitants: Let\u2019s say that I\u2019m from the area of M\u00fcnster, Germany.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What did you do before starting at SMA?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Phew. There\u2019ve been quite a few stations before. But since I don\u2019t want to bore you with stations that are not that important for my work in the field of social media \u2013 such as some years as a banker or as broadcasting journalist, let\u2019s focus on what might be helpful in my role as Social Media Manager at SMA. And these are different stations at companies like Fressnapf, Deutsche Telekom, Studibooks.de, DOUGLAS HOLDING and most recently LR Health & Beauty Systems. For the latter I\u2019ve built up the international Social Media Management \u2013 before I decided to withdraw myself from the practice for around 12 month to focus on my PhD at the University of Salford (Greater Manchester, UK). Well, on the other hand my thesis is about the interpretation of text-based PR-communication in social media environments. And smileys. And that\u2019s kind of practical experience, too \u2013 isn\u2019t it? However\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite food?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Currently it seems like I \u2018m in the middle of a\u00a0 \u201cGr\u00fcnkohl\u201d-phase. That\u2019s a dish typical for my home area \u2013 cooked out of a special winter cabbadge, potatoes and smoked sausages.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What are you \u201cburning\u201d for?<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the little scout in me. And the scout movement itself \u2013 including camp fire and guitars.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Could you share something you\u2019ll never forget.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The turn of the years 2009\/2010 \u2013 which I spend in a tent in the snow. And which was kind of the start of an unforgettable semester abroad in Pennsylvania, USA.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s you favorite movie?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think there\u2019s not THE favorite movie for me. It\u2019s a colorful mix \u2013 from MONSTER INC and SHREK via Ted and Erin Brokovich to nearly all MARVEL movies. Well, let\u2019s call me a movie fan \u2013 and show junkie.<\/p>\n

Well, which shows are currently hot for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, I love watching the simpsons since I am kid, \u201ccurrently hot\u201d is ABCs \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And what\u2019s your favorite band \u2013 or what music do you like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love the Foo Fighters. Incubus. Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Rocky Votolato. Seether. Millencollin. Biffy Clyro. Alien Ant Farm. Shortly: The important thing is it\u2019s something with guitars \u2013 no matter if it\u2019s something acoustic of rocking<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite animal?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A donkey. And in some ways a spiderpig \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s something you don\u2019t like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Annoying noises. And people who think they are better than others.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What\u2019s interesting for you about Social Media and SMA?<\/strong><\/p>\n

First and foremost the chance to play the digital drums for something good \u2013 the energy transition. Not only in Germany, but international. In a communication medium, that\u2019s not only fast but real. And that\u2019s living by it\u2019s users.<\/p>\n
