Along for the ride were our three &#039;Jubilare&#039;, Iris, Sophie and J\u00fcrgen.  Unfortunately, our mixed troop of SMA skiers was smaller this year than last, due to illness and work-related conflicts. <!--more--><\/p>\n<h4> Off to the Slopes <\/h4>\n<p>All in a good mood, our bus set off towards Austria at 8:00 in the morning on March 10. 9.5 hours later, we finally reached our destination, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hintertuxergletscher.at\/en\/home\/0\/home.html\">Hintertux <\/a>im Zillertal. A great dinner and our first night in the mountains later, and we started enjoying the slopes the next morning at 9:00 (despite the fog).  The first day was a bit mixed as far as the weather goes, but our second day was filled with clear blue skies and perfect skiing conditions.<br \/>\nThe Kamikazi gang got to play on the Harakiri slope, with its 78% incline, while the rest of us played it safe on the blue and red slopes.  Thanks to the mandatory helmet law, there were no injuries to report.<\/p>\n<h4> Apr\u00e8s Ski and a Biathlon <\/h4>\n<div id=\"attachment_1266\" style=\"width: 272px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.sma-sunny.com\/files\/2012\/04\/Bild-077.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1266\" data-src=\"http:\/\/en.sma-sunny.com\/files\/2012\/04\/Bild-077-262x173.jpg\" alt=\"SMA colleagues\" title=\"SMA colleagues\" width=\"262\" height=\"173\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1266 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 262px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 262\/173;\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SMA colleagues<\/p><\/div>\nIt wasn&#039;t too uncommon for the older skiers to go to the disco at night while the young ones preferred going to bed. A highlight of the week was the snow-shoe biathlon organized by one of the prominent hotels in the area. We only just lost out to the overall winner on the home stretch.<br \/>\nNext year we will select a new ski destination, which will hopefully have slopes that are just as nice.
